Minister Sakeena Itoo, overseeing Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, convened a meeting to evaluate the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). The focus was on improving examination processes, curriculum implementation, and integrating technology.
Minister Itoo stressed the need for:
- Infrastructure Enhancement: Strengthening JKBOSE’s infrastructure and streamlining administration for efficient operations.
- Technological Integration: Adopting advanced technology to improve accessibility and efficiency.
- Curriculum Updates and Teacher Training: Ensuring timely syllabus revisions and enhancing teacher training programs to meet evolving educational needs.
- Student-Centric Policies: Implementing policies that prioritize student needs.
- Timely Result Declaration: Directing JKBOSE to declare 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade results by month’s end to prevent academic delays.
- Collaboration: Encouraging Directors of School Education to collaborate with JKBOSE for holistic educational development.
A key focus was on equitable and inclusive education for Divyang and Children With Special Needs (CWSN). Minister Itoo mandated:
- Awareness Campaigns: Organizing regular awareness camps, utilizing PRIs and mass media, to inform CWSN students about available benefits.
- Benefit Dissemination: Highlighting benefits like academic and assessment flexibility, exam fee exemptions for students with 40% or more permanent disability, and a 5% pass percentage relaxation in 10th-12th board exams.
Secretary JKBOSE provided a detailed presentation on the board’s functions and ongoing IT initiatives for student facilitation.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Education and Chairman JKBOSE, Shantamanu; Directors of School Education Jammu/Kashmir; Special Secretary School Education Department; Secretary JKBOSE; and other relevant officials.
