A third-year Operation Theatre (OT) Assistant student from Kupwara, Wasib Ahmed, died today in a road accident in Rajouri town. He was studying at Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri.
The accident occurred at Khewra Chowk as Ahmed, riding a motorcycle from GMC Khewra towards the city, collided head-on with a speeding tipper. Onlookers reported that both vehicles were moving at high speed and appeared not to have brakated, resulting in a forceful collision. Ahmed sustained critical injuries and was rushed to GMC Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police have seized the tipper (JK11F 1971) and arrested its driver, Nardev Singh, a resident of Chaudhary Nad, Rajouri. SHO Rajouri, Inspector Abid Hussain Shah, confirmed that a case has been registered and investigations are underway. After a post-mortem and other legal formalities, Ahmed’s body was sent to Kupwara, accompanied by some of his friends from GMC.
