The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is closed due to landslides triggered by continuous rainfall in the Ramban district. Concerns about mountain instability led to the complete closure after cracks appeared in the Mehad, Kishtwadi Patthar, and Gangru Ramsu areas.
Heavy rain has also caused large rocks to fall from the mountains, forcing a halt to traffic in both directions. Officials have deployed teams since 5 am to clear debris and reopen the highway.
