In a heart-warming display of courage and service, army troops rescued over 80 students and faculty members of a Rajasthan law college who were stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar highway due to a heavy snowstorm and landslide.
Wednesday’s blizzard and resulting roadblocks left many travelers stranded, including the 74 students and 7 staff of Rajasthan’s Mohanlal Sukhadia University Law College. Stranded and frightened, they found themselves cut off on the treacherous NH44.
Responding swiftly, army personnel braved the harsh conditions to locate and rescue the panicking group. Professor Kalpesh Nikawat, Principal of the university, expressed his deepest gratitude to the army for their selfless act. “Words cannot express my appreciation for their rescue in such difficult weather,” he said, praising their provision of food and shelter.
Their ordeal began after a wonderful trip to Kashmir was marred by a 3-day delay in Qazigund due to snowfall. The situation worsened when a landslide struck just beyond Banihal, leaving them stranded and fearing for safety.
