The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, forecasting heavy rains and a risk of flash floods in the region.
Here’s a breakdown of the expected weather:
- July 17: Expect a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places, and intense showers at a few locations, with heavy rain at isolated places.
- July 18-19: Brief spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely at scattered to fairly widespread places.
- July 20-23: The forecast indicates generally cloudy conditions with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places. Intense showers are possible at a few locations, and heavy rain at isolated places across Jammu and Kashmir.
The advisory specifically cautions about the possibility of intense showers and heavy rain in isolated areas. This could lead to flash floods in vulnerable places, as well as an increased risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones.
Farmers are advised to spray their crops between July 18 and 20.
