A Police team from Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Insp. Raghubir Choudhary, during routine checking at Jakhani, NHW recovered 31 Kg 400 gramsof Poppy straw like substance from a vehicle (truck) bearing Registeration No JK02AK 8565, one narco smuggler has been arrested today.
The arrested person (driver) has been identified as Jeevan Raj S/O Parkash Nath R/O Kallar, Udhampur.
In this connection, A case FIR No. 644/2023 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Udhampur and the investigation is going on to unearth the backward and forward linkages.
In another case, Police team of PS Udhampur while performing patrolling at circular road near Main Bazar Udhampur yesterday noticed the movement of one suspicious person namely Imran Ayub @Mini S/O Mohd. Ayoob R/O Shankar Nagar, Udhampur who was directed to stop for checking. On frisking, 3.24 grams of heroin (chitta) like Contraband substance was recovered from his possession and accused was arrested on spot.
On this, a case vide FIR No. 642/2023 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act stands registered in P/S Udhampur and further investigation was set into probe.
Pertinently, Udhampur Police has registered 86 different cases under NDPS Act this year in which more than one hundred accused have been arrested and large quantity of Narcotics has been recovered.
