J&K Police Crackdown on Extortion in Pulwama, One Arrested

The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a man in Pulwama district, south Kashmir, for extorting money from residents using threats and intimidation.

Police received reports that individuals were using deceitful tactics to extort money from the public. A case (FIR no 22/2024) was registered under sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

Following an investigation, Andleeb Ahmad Mir was apprehended, and two toy pistols used in the crime were seized. The investigation is ongoing.
