J&K to See Week-Long Rainfall Starting Monday

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a forecast predicting a week of wet weather for Jammu and Kashmir, beginning Monday, March 10th.

    • Until Sunday evening, dry weather is expected.
    • From March 10th to 11th, light to moderate rain and snow are likely in higher altitude areas.
    • An intermittent period of light to moderate rain and snow is expected across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir from March 12th to 14th.
    • Another spell of light rain and snow is possible from March 15th to 16th.
    • Travelers, tourists, and transporters are advised to consult official advisories before planning trips during this period.
    • Farmers are advised to halt farm operations from March 10th to 18th.
    • Residents of higher altitude areas are warned to avoid avalanche-prone and steep slopes.
    • Recent night temperatures have been 1-2°C below average in many Kashmir weather stations.
    • Saturday’s daytime temperatures were 4.5°C above normal in the Kashmir Valley, with Srinagar reaching a high of 19.0°C.

      • Pahalgam: -2.7°C (coldest location)
      • Gulmarg: -2.4°C
