In a crackdown on illegal mining, Kulgam Police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested three people and seized three vehicles on Monday. The arrests were made for illegally extracting and transporting minerals from the district’s rivers and streams, including the Veshaw River.
Authorities are taking action to stop this harmful practice to protect the environment. Illegal mining can cause river degradation, increase flood risks, disrupt the ecological balance, and endanger nearby communities.
The police have registered cases against the accused and are continuing their investigation.
