An Indian Army patrol safely detonated a rusted landmine found near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Friday.
The landmine was discovered adjacent to the border fence in the Balnoi area of the Mankote sector on Thursday. Experts were called in to assess and safely dispose of the device.
Officials confirmed that landmines are often used as part of the anti-infiltration obstacle system along the LoC. However, they can be displaced by heavy rains or accidental triggers, posing a threat to both security personnel and civilians.
