Leopard Enters Sainik School Grounds in Nagrota

A leopard sighting caused panic in the Nagrota area on Wednesday evening after the animal was spotted inside the Sainik School building. Locals first noticed the large cat within the school’s fence around 9:30 pm and immediately alerted the authorities.

Responding promptly, a team from the Nagrota Police Station arrived at the scene and contacted the Wildlife Department. Wildlife officials are currently on-site searching for the leopard, but haven’t been able to locate it yet.

“This area is known for occasional wildlife sightings, as animals use it to access the Tawi River for water,” said Anil K Atri, Wildlife Warden and Additional Director of Jambu Zoo. “It’s possible the leopard simply entered the school grounds to drink and has already returned to the forest.”
