Following the deadly encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district where four soldiers were killed and three injured, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) dispatched a specialized team to the site on Friday. This proactive move highlights the agency’s intent to investigate any possible terror links to the incident, even though it hasn’t been officially handed over to them.
The NIA team, led by a Deputy Inspector General and a Superintendent of Police, will meticulously analyze the scene of the gunfight, gathering detailed evidence and insights. Their findings will be crucial in determining whether the encounter had a terror dimension, potentially influencing the agency’s decision on taking over the investigation.
The NIA’s suo moto approach underscores its commitment to swiftly and thoroughly investigating any incident involving potential terror activity, regardless of its initial designation. This proactive stance helps ensure that no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of justice for fallen soldiers and the fight against terrorism.
