Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday equated the upcoming Assembly election in Rajasthan with Diwali, calling it a ‘Diwali of democracy’. He urged people to ensure that the Congress party is swept out of every corner.
Addressing an election rally in Pilibanga, PM Modi said that Congress is a party of corruption and nepotism. He said that the Centre spent crores of rupees on the Jal Jeevan mission in Rajasthan, but the Congress government did scams in it and left people drinking poisonous water.
PM Modi said that the day is not far when those who looted the poor in Rajasthan will be put behind bars. He added that people in Rajasthan have to pay Rs 12 per litre more for petrol and diesel than in neighbouring BJP-ruled states.
Earlier in the day, while addressing an election rally in Pali, PM Modi accused the Congress Party of “appeasement politics” and dynasty politics. He said that the poll-bound state needs a government that gives priority to development.
PM Modi said that Rajasthan will play a “very big” role in taking India to new heights in the 21st century. He reiterated his attack on the Congress, saying that nothing is more important for the party than corruption and familial politics.
