An Indian Army soldier was martyred in an ongoing exchange of fire with terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, stated that police teams have not yet reached the remote location of the encounter.
The legal and medical formalities for the deceased soldier have been completed, and an FIR has been registered to investigate the incident. The exact number of terrorists involved is still unknown as the operation is ongoing. SSP Singh confirmed that the Army is handling the situation and police will assess the scene once the operation is over.
This incident follows an 11-day anti-terror operation in Kulgam, which resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to two others.
