Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘Physics Bharat Yatra’ from Udhampur, commending the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and the National Anveshika Network of India (NANI) for their initiative. Led by Padma Shri Dr. H.C. Verma, the yatra aims to promote experimental science learning and cultivate curiosity and scientific temper among students.
Sinha highlighted that the pan-India yatra would unite diverse regions in a shared mission to rekindle interest in science. He extended his best wishes to all involved in this endeavor, which seeks to connect schools, educators, and learners through interactive experiences.
“When science is deeply woven into the fabric of society, it not only fosters innovation but it can also significantly shape the direction of a nation by improving the quality of living for the entire society,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
He emphasized India’s shift towards self-reliance over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, particularly in defense capabilities. Sinha attributed the success of “Operation Sindoor” to India’s indigenous defense innovations and technological advancements, showcasing the nation’s scientific prowess and the dedication of its scientists and defense personnel.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of capacity building for science teachers and integrating new scientific advancements into classrooms and labs. He urged educational institutions to provide young researchers with broader scopes and ambitious goals for their experiments. Sinha also called upon Indian scientists and engineers working abroad to consider returning home, citing favorable conditions for pioneering inventions and significant contributions to India’s scientific and economic leadership.
“The confluence of Science, Spirituality, and Sanskar has powered India’s dominance globally. We are strategically investing in scientific and technological advancement to make India a leading global scientific power,” he affirmed, reiterating the national resolve to reclaim ancient glory and build a developed India by 2047.
Padma Shri Dr. H.C. Verma elaborated on the yatra’s vision, which is to promote hands-on learning and encourage individuals, especially youth, to integrate science into their daily lives.
During the event, Lieutenant Governor Sinha also visited a Physics Exhibition showcasing student-led models and experiments. Notable attendees included Pawan Kumar Gupta and Balwant Singh Mankotia, Members of Legislative Assembly; Sarah Rizvi, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range; Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur; Mineesh Gulati, Coordinator Happy IAPT Anveshika Udhampur; along with senior officials, IAPT members, students, teachers, and prominent citizens.
