The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Sarpanch, Muzaffar Ahmad Rather, in Manigam-A for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹9,000.
The complainant, who is a sibling of the Sarpanch’s client, approached the ACB after the Sarpanch repeatedly demanded a bribe to settle a property dispute between the siblings. The Sarpanch initially demanded ₹20,000, but later agreed to accept ₹9,000.
The ACB laid a trap and caught the Sarpanch red-handed while accepting the bribe. The money was recovered from the Sarpanch, and he has been identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Rather, son of Wali Mohd Rather, resident of Manigam.
The case is still under investigation.
