SIA Raids Central Kashmir in 1990 Murder of Kashmiri Pandit Woman

Officials announced that the State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids in central Kashmir on Tuesday. These raids are part of an ongoing investigation into the 35-year-old murder case of Sarla Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit woman.

The SIA is specifically targeting individuals who were previously linked to the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). Among those whose homes were searched was Peer Noorul Haq Shah, also known as ‘Air Marshal’, a former JKLF leader.

Sarla Bhat went missing from her hostel at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Soura in April 1990. Her body was later discovered in downtown Srinagar. The SIA recently took over the investigation of this cold case.

Further details regarding the raids have not yet been released.
