The Kashmir Power Development Corporation (KPDCL) has said that it will continue to install smart meters in Srinagar, despite protests from some residents. The company said that the meters are necessary to provide uninterrupted and quality power to consumers.
KPDCL Managing Director Baseer ul Haq Chowdhary said that there is no alternative to smart meters. He said that the meters will help consumers track their electricity usage and save money. He also said that the meters will help to reduce power theft.
Some residents have protested against the installation of smart meters, saying that they are expensive and that they do not want to be tracked by the government. However, KPDCL has said that the meters are a necessary part of modernizing the power grid.
