Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi has said that some of the terrorists who have crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) in recent times are retired Pakistani soldiers.
Addressing a press conference here, Lt Gen Dwivedi said that the Indian Army is on high alert to thwart any attempts by terrorists to infiltrate into India.
He said that the Indian Army has been successful in eliminating a large number of terrorists in recent months. He also said that the Indian Army is working closely with the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintain law and order in the region.
Lt Gen Dwivedi said that the Indian Army is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also said that the Indian Army is ready to give a befitting reply to any misadventure by Pakistan.
The Northern Army Commander’s statement comes at a time when there has been a surge in infiltration attempts by terrorists from Pakistan.
In recent months, there have been several encounters between the Indian Army and terrorists along the LoC.
