A tragic accident occurred early this morning on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. A passenger vehicle carrying migrant workers veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Battery Cheshma in the Ramban area.
Reports from Jammu Links News indicate at least ten fatalities. Local authorities including police, SDRF, and Civil QRT reached the scene for rescue operations. However, challenging terrain, darkness, and ongoing rain hampered immediate efforts.
Bashir Ahmad Magray, President of the Ramban Volunteers Group, confirmed ten bodies recovered from the gorge. The deceased are believed to be migrant workers traveling to Kashmir for work.
