Security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, killing one terrorist.
The bid was foiled in the Amrohi area of Tangdhar sector, near the Line of Control. The identity and affiliation of the terrorist have not yet been established.
Some incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition were also recovered from the area. The search operation is still in progress, and further details will be released soon.
The joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and intelligence agencies.
This is the second infiltration bid to be foiled in Kupwara district in the past week. On Tuesday, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Machil sector.
The security forces have been on high alert in the region in recent months, as there have been a number of infiltration bids along the Line of Control.
The foiling of these infiltration bids is a major success for the security forces, and it will send a strong message to the terrorists and their handlers. It also shows that the security forces are determined to prevent any terrorist activity in the region.
