Three Drug Peddlers Arrested in Pulwama

Police in Pulwama have arrested three alleged drug peddlers and recovered significant quantities of contraband. Additionally, two suspected drug consumers were apprehended in Awantipora. These arrests are part of an ongoing effort to combat drug-related crime in the region.

Pulwama Drug Busts

In Rajpora, police intercepted an Alto vehicle (JK05H/0877) at Achgoza with Zahoor Ahmad Dar and Rayees Ahmad Gooru, both residents of Gath Takun, Awantipora, on board. Officers recovered approximately 5.7 kg of poppy straw and ₹14,200 in cash from the vehicle. Both individuals have been arrested and are in police custody.

In a separate operation in Putrigam, an Alto vehicle (JK13A-8461) driven by Amir Ahmed Wani of Dadora, Pulwama, was stopped. Police found 10.65 grams of heroin-like substance in his possession. Wani was arrested and remains in custody.

Awantipora Drug Consumer Arrests

In Awantipora, during a patrol at Dangerpora, Padgampora Crossing, police arrested Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Rehan Fayaz Mir, both from Awantipora, under suspicious circumstances. Both admitted to being regular drug consumers. They were subsequently moved to the drug de-addiction/rehabilitation center in Tral, where tests confirmed their drug use.

Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing. Police urge the public to assist their efforts in eradicating the drug menace by providing timely and credible information.
