Ghulam Nabi Azad, the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), criticized the previous regimes for their anti-people policies on Thursday. He said that these policies have hurt the people economically and led to an unprecedented rise in unemployment.
Azad, who was the chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, said that he built massive tourism projects and created Self Help Groups of unemployed engineers to boost the rural economy. He also said that his pro-people and developmental initiatives have been reversed by the present dispensation.
Azad assured the people that he will come back with the golden era if voted to power. He promised to develop the erstwhile Doda district and said that there is no area left that he didn’t connect with roads and provide hospitals and schools.
The former chief minister also met dozens of delegations and addressed public programmes during his visits to Kapra, Ghati Morh and Karehi Chinta blocks. He said that his aim is to uplift the rural economy and provide a source of living for all.
Azad said it is important for party workers to strengthen the cadre at the grassroots level. He asked them to reach out to people at their doorsteps and ensure they are becoming part of the “caravaan” of peace and development.
