Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the president of the Apni Party, said on Monday that traditional J&K politicians left the people at the mercy of circumstances after the August 5, 2019 events. He claimed that it was only the Apni Party that took the initiative to engage with the central government to get relief for our people and protect their rights.
Bukhari was addressing an event at the party headquarters in Srinagar to welcome Late Qazi Mohammad Afzal’s son, Qazi Umar Farooq, and his associates into the Apni Party fold. He expressed his optimism about Qazi Farooq’s potential to become a prominent figure in Ganderbal, following in the footsteps of his father, and gathering substantial public support in the days to come.
Bukhari said that the Apni Party was established in March 2020 in response to the helplessness and uncertainty that people were grappling with in the aftermath of the August 5, 2019 events. He said that the traditional politicians had chosen to remain silent during this time, but the Apni Party had taken the proactive step of engaging with leaders in Delhi. Through their efforts, they succeeded in convincing the central government to provide an assurance that no demographic changes would be made in J&K and that the people of J&K would continue to have their special rights regarding jobs and agricultural land.
Bukhari said that the Apni Party is committed to working for the betterment of the people of J&K and that they will continue to engage with the central government to get the best possible deal for the people of the region. He also called on the people of J&K to support the Apni Party in its efforts to bring peace and prosperity to the region.
