Security forces arrested a militant associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s shadow group, The Resistance Front, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Acting on specific intelligence of militant movement in the Ushkara area, a joint checkpoint was established by Baramulla Police, Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles, MI and 53 Bn CRPF.
During a routine check, a suspicious individual was observed approaching the checkpoint on foot. On seeing the security forces, he tried to flee but was apprehended.
The individual was identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Ushkara Baramulla. During his search, two hand grenades and Rs. 40,000 in cash were recovered from his possession.
A case under sections UA (P) and Arms Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and an investigation is underway.
