A wreath-laying ceremony took place in Jammu on Friday to honour Havildar Jhantu Ali Shaikh, who tragically died from injuries sustained during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The encounter occurred on Thursday in the Udhampur district during a joint operation based on specific intelligence in Basantgarh. The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army reported on X that a fierce firefight ensued upon contact with the terrorists. Sadly, one brave soldier suffered severe injuries in the initial exchange and later succumbed despite all medical efforts.
Separately, official sources reported that security forces launched a search operation on Friday in the Kulnar Bazipora area of the Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir.
