Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, shared a peaceful morning walk amidst the vibrant blooms of Srinagar’s Tulip Garden. Rijiju also met with National Conference (NC) President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
Rijiju expressed his appreciation on social media, describing the morning as “refreshing” and filled with “warmth and vision.” He highlighted the beauty of the Tulip Garden, Asia’s largest, which spans 30 hectares and overlooks Dal Lake, and was established in 2007 to promote floriculture and tourism in the Kashmir Valley.
The ministers’ visit followed the inauguration of the Lok Sanvardhan Parv in Srinagar, a celebration of Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural and artistic heritage. Omar Abdullah emphasized India’s diversity and the collective responsibility of its citizens to contribute to national progress, stating that “In our country, there are no people with the same mindset… In the development of this country, all of us have a role to play.”
The Lok Sanvardhan Parv provides a platform for artisans and culinary experts from minority communities to showcase their crafts and traditional cuisines, coinciding with the popular Tulip Festival. This strategic timing aims to boost market exposure and livelihood opportunities for participants by attracting a significant number of tourists.
