Senior AICC leader and in-charge J&K affairs, Bharat Sinh Solanki, on Friday said BJP was running away from Assembly and other local elections for fear of losing the polls, “thus depriving people of J&K of basic democratic rights”.
He said that BJP has snatched the statehood, land and jobs of the people of J&K and it’s time to repay them for the injustice to the people.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at Udhampur along with a team of local leaders, Solanki said, “BJP cancelled all elections right from local bodies to panchayats after losing Kargil hill council polls. Nobody knows when overdue Assembly elections will be held despite Supreme Court also directing to hold the same before end of September this year.”
Solanki lashed out at the saffron party for “bringing unprecedented price rise of all commodities like petrol, diesel, LPG and other items”.
Urging people to rise against the alleged wrong policies of the BJP government, Solanki said that people should vote for real issues facing the common masses of country and reject BJP’s divisive tactics.
UT Congress president Vikar Rasool Wani said BJP has given miseries to the people of J&K by snatching their rights. “There is large scale unemployment and joblessness while the resources are being looted ruthlessly depriving locals of their livelihood and safe environment. There is no participation of local stakeholders and all major projects are with outside contractors at the cost of local contractors,” Wani said.
Working president of J&K Congress, Raman Bhalla, targeted BJP for opening new liquor shops in Jammu, also termed as the ‘City of Temples’, and elsewhere for which youth are falling prey easily.
