Lokesh Kumar, a 25-year-old man from Alipurdauar, West Bengal, was arrested in Srinagar on Thursday with a stolen pistol. He was caught near a joint checkpoint at Regal Chowk in the early hours of the morning.
The police said that Kumar had stolen the pistol from the house of a registered license holder on the same night. An FIR has been registered against him at Police Station Kothibagh.
The arrest is a major success for the police, as it has taken a dangerous weapon off the streets. It also sends a strong message to criminals that they will be brought to justice.
