A 24-year-old youth, Rafaqat Ahmad Kasana, was found dead in a power canal in Saturna village of Kangan tehsil in Ganderbal district on Monday. Kasana had gone missing from his home in Kasanapati area on July 5, 2023.
His body was fished out of the canal by locals and the police were informed. A police official said that they have taken cognizance of the incident and are investigating the matter.
The cause of death is yet to be ascertained. However, the police suspect that Kasana may have drowned in the canal.
Kasana’s family has been informed about his death. They are in a state of shock.
The police have urged people to be careful and avoid going near power canals, especially during the monsoon season.
