Srinagar, J&K – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V. K. Birdi, convened a high-level security review meeting to finalize arrangements for upcoming major events in the Kashmir Valley, including Eid-ul-Fitr and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY). The meeting, attended by senior officials from J&K Police, intelligence agencies, and other security forces, prioritized public safety and law and order.
Key discussions focused on:
- Eid-ul-Fitr Security: IGP Birdi issued directives for effective crowd management during Eid prayers and religious observances. Measures included controlling entry and exit points at mosques, deploying personnel strategically, and collaborating with local community leaders. Increased vigilance, random checks at sensitive locations, and enhanced security patrols were also mandated to mitigate potential threats.
- Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) Security: With the yatra scheduled from July 3rd to August 9th, discussions emphasized meticulous planning, logistical arrangements, route security, and emergency response protocols. The yatra attracts thousands of pilgrims annually, requiring robust security measures.
IGP Birdi stressed the importance of seamless coordination among all security agencies to address the complex security challenges associated with these large-scale events.
