Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, a high-ranking police official conducted a thorough security assessment of popular tourist sites near Jammu, according to a Wednesday statement.
Shridhar Patil, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, toured Patnitop, Nathatop, and Sanasar. These locations, situated along the old Jammu-Srinagar national highway between the Udhampur and Ramban districts, attract numerous tourists throughout the year.
Accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police of Ramban, Kulbir Singh, along with other police and civil authorities, including representatives from the Patnitop Development Authority and the Tourism department, the DIG evaluated the existing security protocols designed to protect visitors, a police spokesperson stated.
After a detailed examination of the security arrangements at these key tourist destinations, Patil also engaged in an interactive session with representatives from various hotel and trekking associations, as well as local residents, including former village heads, the spokesperson added.
During these discussions, participants received briefings on the security measures implemented to ensure public safety and maintain order. They also explored potential additional measures and ways to improve collaboration among all involved parties, the spokesperson noted.
The DIG stressed the critical need to guarantee the safety and well-being of tourists.
Furthermore, officials discussed strategies to strengthen cooperation between the police and civil administration, enhance surveillance capabilities, and maintain law and order in anticipation of the upcoming peak tourist season, the spokesperson conveyed.
The spokesperson emphasized that this visit underscores the administration’s dedication to promoting Patnitop, Nathatop, and Sanasar as safe and secure destinations for tourists from all over the country.
