Vande Bharat Express: Katra-Srinagar Route Fully Booked for Next 10 Days
The recently inaugurated Vande Bharat Express service connecting Katra and Srinagar has been met with an enthusiastic public response, with all tickets fully booked for the next ten days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially flagged off the train on June 6, 2025, a significant step in enhancing transport connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir as part of the broader Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, Station Superintendent at Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station, reported a “tremendous excitement among the public” regarding the new service. He highlighted the scenic route as a major draw, contributing to the “festive atmosphere among the passengers.” The overwhelming demand has led to a long waiting list, particularly among tourists eager to experience the journey.
Sharma also emphasized the train’s excellent facilities and the dedicated efforts of railway staff to ensure passenger satisfaction. He noted that any issues are promptly addressed, and the entire railway team is working hard to maintain smooth operations.
This high-speed train is poised to significantly reduce travel time between Katra and Srinagar, offering a safe, efficient, and comfortable travel alternative. Beyond passenger convenience, the service is expected to boost regional trade, facilitate the faster movement of produce for the horticulture sector, and strengthen religious tourism to the Vaishno Devi shrine and other destinations.
