In a crucial meeting held on Monday, the Northern Commander of the Indian Army, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, and the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, RR Swain, reviewed the security plan against terrorism and the administrative arrangements in preparation for the approaching winter months. This marked the first interaction between the two senior officials since Swain took charge as Police DG on October 31.
During the discussion, both commanders emphasized the need for enhanced coordination between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining zero tolerance for terrorism. They also outlined detailed plans to ensure the safety and security of the Union Territory throughout the winter season.
With heavy snowfall anticipated in the coming months, police and security agencies across Jammu and Kashmir have been placed on high alert, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC). This heightened vigilance aims to prevent any infiltration attempts by terrorists before the snowfall blocks potential infiltration routes. Additionally, anti-terrorist operations have been intensified in villages near forests and borders as part of an ongoing area domination exercise.
The Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police remain steadfast in their commitment to safeguarding the Union Territory and ensuring the well-being of its residents.
