The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in two villages in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday morning. The raids were carried out in Sethergund and Ugergund, both in the south Kashmir district.
The NIA sleuths, accompanied by police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, raided residential buildings in these villages and carried out searches. The raids are part of the premier investigating agency’s probe into a terror-related case.
The officials said that the raids are still ongoing and that no arrests have been made yet. They added that the NIA is likely to question the people who were present at the raided locations.
The NIA has been investigating terror-related cases in Jammu and Kashmir for several years. In recent months, the agency has conducted a number of raids in the region.
The raids in Pulwama district come at a time when there has been a surge in terror-related violence in Jammu and Kashmir. In the past few weeks, there have been a number of attacks on security forces and civilians.
