In a significant move to simplify highway travel, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced on Wednesday that a FASTag-based annual pass facility for private vehicles will be launched, effective August 15, 2025.
Gadkari shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating that this “transformative step” introduces a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000. The pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first, and is exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans.
This new Annual Pass aims to provide seamless and cost-effective travel on National Highways nationwide. A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be available on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH.
The policy seeks to address long-standing concerns about toll plazas within a 60 km range, streamlining toll payments into a single, affordable transaction. By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimizing disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass is expected to offer a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners.
