A massive fire broke out in Dal Lake today, gutting several houseboats and causing crores of rupees in damage. The fire erupted in one of the houseboats near Ghat number 9 and quickly spread to several others in the vicinity. Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control, but not before at least half a dozen houseboats were severely damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
