Amidst recent cross-border firing and an IED attack along the Line of Control (LoC), Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha affirmed on Monday that the Indian Army is well-equipped to handle any border situation and is effectively retaliating against enemy forces. He emphasized that counter-terrorism operations will continue unabated, with security agencies directed to eliminate terrorism and restore peace in the region.
Speaking to reporters, Sinha addressed concerns about recent LoC incidents, including an IED attack in Akhnoor sector that killed two army personnel. He acknowledged other incidents of cross-border firing and landmine explosions that injured additional soldiers, while noting that the Indian Army’s response caused significant casualties on the Pakistani side. Sinha highlighted the rarity of ceasefire violations since the 2021 agreement between India and Pakistan.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the close collaboration between police and other security agencies, stating they have received clear instructions to eradicate terrorism and dismantle its support network. He reiterated that maintaining peace and order in Jammu and Kashmir is the top priority, and therefore, anti-terrorism operations will not be paused.
