Srinagar police have taken decisive action against individuals posing a threat to national security and public order, announcing on Saturday the booking of 23 terror associates and miscreants under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
A police spokesperson stated that these individuals, linked to banned terror groups and involved in activities disrupting public peace, have been detained and subsequently lodged in district jails in Poonch, Udhampur, and Kot Balwal, Jammu.
The spokesperson elaborated that the arrests followed the acquisition of formal detention orders from the Srinagar district magistrate’s office. These orders were based on comprehensive dossiers compiled by the Srinagar police detailing the accused individuals’ involvement in subversive activities.
Highlighting the repeated offenses, the spokesperson noted that despite previous arrests and bail granted by the courts in several criminal cases, these individuals persisted in disturbing public order and engaging in criminal and anti-national activities.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police underscored its ongoing commitment to systematically target and dismantle the infrastructure supporting such anti-national and anti-social elements within Srinagar city through consistent and firm action.
Reiterating their resolve, the police affirmed their unwavering dedication to eradicating criminal activities that jeopardize the region’s security and public order, utilizing the full force of the law.
The spokesperson concluded with a strong warning to those involved in unlawful or disruptive activities that undermine national security, stating that they will inevitably face legal consequences.
