Sopore, June 24, 2025 – In a continued effort to combat the drug menace, Sopore Police have arrested a drug peddler during a routine checkpoint operation at Parray Mohalla Haigam.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, son of Abdul Kabeer Bhat, a resident of Hashmatpora Hathlangoo. During a search of his vehicle (registration number JK11B-0112), officers recovered a substance suspected to be poppy straw.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 88/2025, Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act, at Police Station Tarzoo. Further investigation is underway to identify the source of the drugs and dismantle the broader network involved in this illicit trade.
