In a significant win for security forces, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat announced on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, that a top-ranking Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander, active in the Dudu-Basantgarh forest area of Udhampur for four years, was neutralized in a recent encounter. The terrorist, identified as Haider, code-named Maulvi, from Pakistan, was killed on June 26, though three of his associates managed to escape due to challenging weather and terrain.
