Valley shivers as Pahalgam plummets to -4.3°C, Srinagar bites at -1.4°C

Temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir continued to fall on Tuesday, with the mercury dropping below freezing in most parts of the Valley, except for Kokernag.

  • Srinagar: A low of minus 1.4°C was recorded in Srinagar, 0.5°C below normal for this time of year.
  • Qazigund: The gateway town of Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 1.6°C, 0.5°C below normal.
  • Pahalgam: The famous hill resort in south Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.3°C, 1.0°C below normal.
  • Kokernag: Defying the trend, Kokernag recorded a minimum of 0.2°C, 0.8°C above normal.
  • Kupwara: In north Kashmir, Kupwara town dipped to minus 1.4°C, 0.3°C below normal.
  • Gulmarg: The world-famous skiing resort witnessed a low of minus 2.3°C, surprisingly 1.0°C above normal.
  • Jammu: The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a minimum of 9.9°C, 0.1°C above normal.

The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy till December 7th. From December 8th to 10th, partly to generally cloudy weather is anticipated.
