A woman from Sonwar in Srinagar committed suicide by jumping into the Jhelum River near Zero Bridge on Tuesday morning, according to officials.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after her body was recovered by locals and police.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and have begun an investigation.
