3 Drug Peddlers Arrested in Budgam, Sopore

Continuing its determined efforts to combat the drug menace, Police have achieved success with the arrest of three drug peddlers in Budgam and Sopore, and the recovery of a substantial amount of illegal substances from their possession.

In Budgam, a vigilant police team from Police Post Soibugh established a checkpoint near the Soibugh Diyar Bridge. During this operation, they intercepted two suspicious individuals who attempted to evade the authorities but were skillfully apprehended. A subsequent search of these individuals led to the recovery of a heroin-like substance. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Mohd Imran Khan, son of Abdul Rahman Khan, and Waris Rashid Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar, both residents of Narkara, Budgam. In response, a case under FIR No. 108/2025, invoking the relevant legal provisions, has been registered at Police Station Budgam, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.

In a similar operation in Sopore, Police Station Dangiwacha successfully apprehended a known drug peddler, Mohammad Iqbal Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and resident of Drusoo Khalisa Rafiabad. This arrest was made in connection with FIR No. 22/2025, registered under sections 8, 22, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Previous investigations related to this case had already resulted in the seizure of 496 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus. Ongoing investigations and persistent efforts have now led to the recovery of additional capsules.
