KL Rahul ruled out of India’s opening two Asia Cup games with niggle

India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the first two matches of the upcoming Asia Cup due to a minor injury. The 30-year-old, who was named in the Indian squad for the tournament, was suffering from a niggle and will be staying back at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Head coach Rahul Dravid said that the niggle is unrelated to the thigh injury that kept Rahul out of action for months. He added that a call on Rahul’s participation in the tournament will be taken on September 4.

India will play their first match of the Asia Cup against Pakistan on September 2 followed by Nepal on September 4.
