Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a three-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir, beginning with a visit to a Border Security Force (BSF) forward post in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district. This visit aimed to assess the ongoing counter-terrorism operation against Pakistani infiltrators, which has been active for two weeks.

- Shah arrived at BSF Outpost ‘Vinay’ via helicopter, accompanied by senior BSF and police officials, including BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary.
- The purpose was to evaluate the ground situation amidst the extensive search operation initiated on March 23rd, following the interception of five terrorists.
- The operation resulted in the deaths of four policemen and two terrorists on March 27th.

- Prior to his border visit, Shah held a closed-door meeting with BJP MLAs and senior party members in Jammu, emphasizing the party’s commitment to the region’s prosperity under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
Security and Compassionate Appointments:

- Shah is scheduled to meet with families of Jammu and Kashmir police officers who died in the line of duty, and present appointment letters to those selected on compassionate grounds at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu.

- On Tuesday, Shah will travel to Srinagar to review development programs and the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir at meetings held at the Raj Bhavan.
- This is Shah’s first visit to the Union Territory since the formation of the National Conference government in October of the previous year.
