Jammu paid tribute to Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang on Friday with a wreath-laying ceremony and gun salute. Sepoy Pandurang lost his life in the line of duty during an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the Singhpora area of Chatroo, Kishtwar.

The encounter, which began in the early hours of Thursday, marked its second day on Friday. White Knight Corps confirmed the casualty on May 22 via an official statement on X, reporting a “fierce gunfight” where a “Braveheart” sustained grievous injuries and succumbed despite medical efforts.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police had also confirmed the initial exchange of fire in the Singhpora area. Security forces have since cordoned off the area, intensified search operations, and maintained containment protocols.
