Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan today to assess the preparations for the upcoming 38-day Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin on July 3.
Top officials from the Army, paramilitary forces, and Police, including Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V K Bidhuri, were in attendance, alongside other senior administrative officers.
Sources indicate that the discussions focused on security measures and other arrangements vital for the successful conduct of the Yatra. LG Sinha directed the security agencies to ensure all preparations are finalized well in advance of the pilgrimage. Officials subsequently briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the steps being taken to facilitate both the Yatra and the pilgrims.
Earlier this week, LG Sinha performed the ‘Pratham Puja’ at the Amarnath cave shrine, marking the ceremonial commencement of this year’s annual Yatra. He reassured pilgrims of robust security arrangements and encouraged them to participate in large numbers.
“The Pratham Puja has concluded. I urge devotees to attend in large numbers for the Yatra, which will run from July 3 to August 9, concluding on Raksha Bandhan,” LG Sinha stated. He further appealed, “I urge all devotees of Baba Barfani to visit in large numbers for the Holy Yatra and pray to Mahadev for the progress of Jammu & Kashmir and the nation.”
