Jammu and Kashmir continues to experience a significant heatwave, with most areas reporting above-normal maximum temperatures and no immediate relief in sight.
In the Kashmir division, Srinagar recorded a high of 32.4°C on Friday, which is 4.4°C above its seasonal average. Qazigund was notably hotter at 32.8°C (6.1°C above normal), while Kokernag registered the highest temperature in the division at 33.2°C, a striking 7°C above its average. Other areas also saw elevated temperatures: Pahalgam reached 28.2°C, Kupwara 31.9°C (3.7°C above normal), and the popular hill station Gulmarg recorded 23.0°C (4.2°C above normal).
The Jammu region continues to be gripped by intense heat. Jammu city soared to a scorching 43.6°C, which is 4.8°C higher than its average for this time of year. Katra followed with 39.5°C. Similarly, Batote (31.6°C), Bhaderwah (30.8°C), and Banihal (31.8°C) all recorded temperatures significantly above their normal ranges.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, Leh reported a maximum of 27.0°C, which is 3.5°C above its average. Temperature data for Kargil was not available.
