On Friday, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) announced the recovery of the black box from Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner that crashed. The device was found on the rooftop of residential quarters belonging to BJ Medical College.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed into the residential quarters shortly after takeoff. An official confirmed the black box’s retrieval from the rooftop.

The AAIB initiated a full-scale investigation immediately, with over 40 state government staff joining Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) teams at the site. The statement confirmed, “The DFDR (Black Box) has been recovered from the rooftop.”
